              สิ่งที่น่าสนใจอีกอย่างหนึ่งในสวนประวัติศาสตร์ คือ เตาเผากระเบื้องโบราณ ซึ่งสร้างไว้ที่จุดต่างๆในสวนนี้ ลองดูในรูปซิค่ะ

ความเป็นมาของเตาเผากระเบื้องโบราณ ได้เขียนแสดงบนแผ่นป้ายที่ตั้งอยู่ในสวนฯ ดังนี้

เตาเผากระเบื้องโบราณ (Ancient Tile Kiln)

เป็นเตาสำหรับเผากระเบื้องมุงหลังคา ดั้งเดิมของชาวบ้านแถบเกาะยอและบริเวณใกล้เคียง ซึ่งเป็นหัตถกรรมพื้นเมืองสงขลาที่ได้รับความนิยมอย่างกว้างขวางต้นสมัยรัตนโกสินทร์ และเริ่มเสื่อมความนิยมลงเมื่อมีผลิตภัณฑ์ก่อสร้างอื่นเข้ามาแทนที่ กระเบื้องมุงหลังคา และกระเบื่องปูพื้น สื่อให้เห็นถึงการประกอบอาชีพซึ่งเป็นอาชีพหลักของชาวบ้าน ในอดีต กระเบื้องดินเผาเมืองสงขลามีอย่างกว้างขวางทั้งในพื้นที่ภาคใต้ มาเลเซียและกรุงเทพฯ แหล่งผลิตกระเบื้องดินเผาเมืองพบทางทิศตะวันตกของเมืองสงขลา ตั้งแต่บริเวณบ้านท่าอิฐ บ้านท่าสะอ้าน อำเภอหาดใหญ่ และบริเวณเกาะยอ ขึ้นไปจนถึงบ้านท่านางหอม ตำบลน้ำน้อย อำเภอหาดใหญ่ และบริเวณเกาะยอ
